The care delivery pendulum was already swinging toward more home-based health care before 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated the entire health care system to take a fresh look at the safest and most accessible way to deliver care.

Providing an analytical deep dive into current attitudes around home healthcare, this report highlights findings from 1,000 US adults and 75 health plan executives, demonstrating why the trend towards care at home is in the best interest of both insurers and members.

In addition to insight around consumer demand and health plan readiness, the 2020 Health-at-Home report includes perspectives from providers and policymakers who examine the growing opportunities as well as the legislative and regulatory mechanisms that are driving more care to the home now and into the future.

Report Highlights

CONSUMERS:

  • 72% of all respondents prefer to recover at home versus a medical facility following a major medical event.
  • 69% are interested in regular, at-home check-ins with doctors.
  • 63% would prefer getting treatment at home over going to a doctor’s office or medical facility
